Amazon’s shopping chatbot, Rufus, is set to introduce ads into its user experience, as revealed in a recent changelog spotted by AdWeek. U.S. users of Rufus will start seeing sponsored ads based on their search and conversation context. In some cases, the chatbot may even generate additional text to accompany existing ad copy, enhancing brand and product discovery.

This move follows a trend seen with Microsoft’s Copilot chatbot, which also features ads, as companies seek to monetize costly AI tools. Amazon’s spokesperson emphasized that these ads aim to improve product discovery for customers engaging with Rufus.
