LineLeap, a Y Combinator-backed startup, aims to revolutionize nightlife by letting users pay to skip long lines at bars and venues. Founded by Max Schauff, Patrick Skelly, and Nick Becker while they were still undergraduates, the idea was sparked by the trio’s frustration with long queues at college bars. Through a mobile app, users can purchase line-skipping passes and more, such as concert tickets and VIP services. The startup now partners with over 400 college bars and has raised $25 million, with a valuation of $100 million.

The founders hustled hard in the early days, travelling from college town to college town to sign up venues. Now, LineLeap has grown to a team of 40 people and processed over $30 million in payments this year. In addition to skipping lines, the platform offers features like pre-ordering drinks, buying tickets, promoting events, and creating new revenue streams for venues.

However, the app faces criticism over inequality—allowing wealthier patrons to pay for a better experience—and potential privacy concerns regarding its data retention policy. Despite these issues, LineLeap continues to expand, positioning itself as a long-term partner for nightlife venues.
